Re-thinking Linoleum - the eco-friendly surface

Re-thinking Linoleum - the eco-friendly surface

If you’re motivated to source interior products with strong eco-credentials, you might be surprised to find Linoleum high up the list. Often misjudged and seemingly relegated to your grandparents’ kitchen, Linoleum is actually a 100% natural surface made from vegetable linseed oil, pine resin, wood flour and natural colour pigments. Linoleum is also completely biodegradable, low in allergens, recyclable and has a long-life cycle lasting between 25 and 40 years.

Another Brand has harnessed this beautifully green material across several product ranges. Designer Emile Jones applied Linoleum to the surfaces of the Lastra Collection; drawn by its’ earthy, solid quality with a matt look and warm touch.

Studiomama’s 1x1 Trestle Dining Table features a reversible table top with Linoleum and Oak. Studiomama’s Nina Tolstrup adds, “We love working with Linoleum. It’s a very diverse material and can be used on floors or as we have done on tabletops, with a huge choice of colours.  It has a lovely soft and warm feel to it and is super easy to maintain.”

The surface is extremely durable and doesn’t easily blemish making it ideal for a busy kitchen table or well-used shelving units. It actively resists the build-up of static charges, preventing dust or dirt from sticking, it ensures that the material remains unblemished, hygienic, clean and fingerprint free.
